Our airport Representative will meet and assist upon arrival at the airport where a special welcome awaits there.Later transfer to the Hotel by air-conditioned vehicle. Upon arrival check into the Hotel. Cochin is also known as 'Queen of the Arabian Sea ' due to its natural harbour being one of the finest. Cochin is a city made of islands connected to Ernakulam on the mainland by bridges and ferries. The interesting city of Cochin perfectly reflect the eclecticism of Kerala.. This quaint town has seen historic visits from sea faring traders in the past from Portugal,China etc bringing to it different cultures that make up its fabric.

The Kathakali performers begin to train for their art at a young age, and their study continues for a lifetime. Today you will enjoy a dance performance. (Kathakali- Witness the artist's make-up demonstration at 17.15 hours and attend the dance performance at 19.00 hours .Dance drama ends at 2000hrs )Return to you hotel for an overnight's stay.

Visit Jewish Synagogue (of 1568) which is the oldest synagogue in the commonwealth. The synagogue is located in an area called Jew Town which also is one of the centers of the spice trade in the region.(Dress Code: visitors to the Synagogue - Bare shoulders and mid-riffs are not permitted and should be covered with shawls . Visit Mattancherry (Dutch) Palace built by the Portuguese in 1557 and the Palace's alternative name " Dutch Palace " resulted from substantial renovations by the Dutch after 1663 and visit St. Francis Church, the oldest European built church in India . Also pay a visit to the amazing Chinese fishing nets operating on principles of physics advanced for their times.Top off the day embark your private motor boat and cruise thru the eventful history of the city and it began when a major flood in AD 1341 threw open estuary at Kochin,till then a land locked region,turning it into one of the finest natural harbours in the world. Today morning after breakfast visit the natural habitat of the Niligiri tahr , Rajamala is 2695 m above sea level,which was established in 1978 to protect the Nilgiri Tahr, the only mountain goat south of the Himalaya. The half the world's population of the rare mountain goat or tahr which is fast becoming extinct, is now found here.The Niligiri tahr in Rajamala are now to be found in small herds found in Eravikulam-Rajamala region. The total number of Niligiri Tahrs in Rajamala is estimated to be over 1300( visiting time morning 0700hrs till evening 1800hrs and visitors are not allowed during the monsoon/ Eravikulam National park remains closed from mid January to end of February as this is Nil Tar breeding period )Overnight stay at hotel.

Transfer Muunar |Thekkady (Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary) for Three nights | Overnight at Hotel

Periyar is one of the sixteen Project Tiger reserves in India, and one of the most picturesque and beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in the world. With its waterways, forests and grasslands, it provides a fitting climax to our wildlife tour of southern India. Periyar wild life sanctuary is 900m above sea level and said to offer the visitor the best chance to see wild elephant in the whole of India. The sanctuary is part of Project Tiger, but unfortunately these animals are rarely seen here.

The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the banks of the Periyar lake - an artificial lake, and thick evergreen forest. Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grass lands. Although it is unusual to see many animals , still you spot a family of Elephants, Wild Boar, and Sambar Deer by the water's edge. Viewing is best by boat at sunrise and sunset - ( Timings 07a.m to 09.00 a.m / 09.30a.m to 11.30a.m /11.30a.m to 01.30p.m / 02.00p.m to 04.00p.m /04.00 p.m to 06.00p.m) You can spot elephants and bison when they come to the edge for a drink. Return and overnight at hotel.

Exploring the Reserve by boat and on foot. The boat journeys provide unrivalled opportunities for observing mammals, particularly Elephant, at close range. A longer excursion deep into the forests on foot with local tribal guides will help to make this an intimate and unique experience. The scenery, shapes and colours often remind people of the Scottish Highlands. Periyar Wild life Sanctuary | Village Homestay at Backwaters for Two nights | Overnight Homestay

Today morning after breakfast drive to Backwater area (130kms/4 hours drive) an unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forest, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals adorned with white lilies .Chec into a very leisurely and beautiful village homestay which set in the middle of a working farm, it is a house of openness and light, serenaded by birds, shaded by ancient trees and lulled by gentle breeze from the backwaters. The house has four large airy bedrooms for guests - including a wheel chair friendly one. The rooms need Ac and no air-conditioning. The bathrooms attached to the bedrooms offer both cold and warm water options. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are with the family and other guests around the family dining table. Food here is mostly traditional Kerala cuisine - with the produce from the farm, village and the bounty of the lagoon. The host family lives in a private wing of the house and is always in residence. On arrival in Cochin airport please proceed through passport control and customs (there are plenty of trolleys by the luggage reclaim area) |||||Our representative will be waiting for you at the main exit door (for security reasons no one is allowed inside the main building)||||||Please note that in the sub-continent currency exchange and establishments that accept credit cards and travellers cheques are mainlylimited to major towns and cities, therefore we suggest you have adequate local currency before moving into rural areas and game parks|||||All visitors to Asia are reminded that they should take the appropriate anti-malarial precautions starting a week before departure, throughout thewhole of the holiday and continuing for a month after the end of the holiday|||||The guides we use are independent Government Licensed Guides.
