Today morning after breakfast visit the natural habitat of the Niligiri tahr , Rajamala is 2695 m above sea level,which was established in 1978 to protect the Nilgiri Tahr, the only mountain goat south of the Himalaya. The half the world's population of the rare mountain goat or tahr which is fast becoming extinct, is now found here.The Niligiri tahr in Rajamala are now to be found in small herds found in Eravikulam-Rajamala region. The total number of Niligiri Tahrs in Rajamala is estimated to be over 1300( visiting time morning 0700hrs till evening 1800hrs and visitors are not allowed during the monsoon/ Eravikulam National park remains closed from mid January to end of February as this is Nil Tar breeding period )Overnight stay at hotel.

Periyar is one of the sixteen Project Tiger reserves in India, and one of the most picturesque and beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Periyar wild life sanctuary is 900m above sea level and said to offer the visitor the best chance to see wild elephant in the whole of India. The sanctuary is part of Project Tiger, but unfortunately these animals are rarely seen here.

The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the banks of the Periyar lake - an artificial lake, and thick evergreen forest. Here the high ranges of the Western Ghats are clothed in dense evergreen, moist deciduous forests and savannah grass lands. Although it is unusual to see many animals , still you spot a family of Elephants, Wild Boar, and Sambar Deer by the water's edge.
